Love Is...

(Where We Begin Again)

Love is not a game.

Love is not a possession,
love is free and pure.

Love is not material –
it can’t be bought
or bargained with;
love is free and pure.

Love is not new clothes,
money,
or a paradise abroad.

Love is not a gift,
if given without true care.
Love is being present,
even when it hurts.

Love is not an empty gesture;
love is selfless care.

Love is not saying ‘you’ll be fine’,
love is helping you get there.

Love is not a treat
with conditions for peace.

Love is not half-listening;
it’s hearing,
trying to understand,
and helping,
in any way you can.

Love is holding,
caressing,
embracing,
sharing,
giving –
without expectation.

Love cannot be exchanged
or bought,
only shared or taught.

Love can be drowned
by pain and ego,
but love can set us free.

Love is how we keep on going,
no matter how hard the path.

Love is where we come together,
love is how we heal.
